Application
Official Application Form
The application deadline is February 11, 2008.
Please note that a complete application
will require the following forms and documents:
- Official transcripts of all college and/or university training
undertaken to date.
- Three letters of reference: two from individuals who can comment
on the applicant's academic ability and ability to adapt to Vietnam;
and one from a current or former teacher of Vietnamese who can
comment on the applicant's skill as a student of Vietnamese.
These letters must be originals (not photocopies) and be signed
and sealed by the recommender. Letters can be included with the
application or sent separately.
- Copies of any Vietnamese proficiency assessments that the applicant
may have completed.
- A personal statement outlining academic and/or career goals,
indicating how participation in the VASI program will help advance
you toward your goals.
- A one-page handwritten statement in Vietnamese
concerning your reasons for wishing to participate in the VASI
Program and the benefits you expect to derive from it.

Program semi-finalists will be required to participate
in a telephone interview in Vietnamese in late March 2008.
Arrangements
for the interview will be made after a preliminary review of all
applications has been completed.
