Costs & Funding
There is a non-refundable program fee of $1,000 for this program. This fee must be paid prior to departure for Vietnam.
Participants are responsible for their own health insurance (required), pre-travel inoculations, visa application costs, and living expenses in Vietnam.
Air travel will be arranged and paid for by the VASI administrative office at UC Berkeley. Under the Fly America Act, U.S. government regulations require that U.S. carriers must be used for travel overseas if travel costs are covered from federal grants. VASI participants will be required to use a U.S. carrier for their travel to Vietnam.
It is anticipated that VASI will be able to offer a limited number of fellowships adequate to offset some of the program costs. Applicants are encouraged, however, to seek funding from other sources to either fully support or supplement the cost of study of this summer program.
