IAS-ISS provides information systems and services for IAS and its affiliated units.

GOALS

The goals of the group include:

• Providing reliable, courteous computer support services at a lower cost than otherwise available to IAS units.
• Encouraging development and growth of a standard computer environment within IAS to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness and decrease user training costs.
• Enabling development of collaborative computing environments within IAS.
• Serving as liaison between IAS users and campus information systems providers.
• Encouraging user development and empowerment at IAS.

ENVIRONMENT

IAS has a complex high quality information systems environment, including:

• Over 50 units and aproximately 200 people.
• The IAS network domain includes at least 7 subnets and over 250 network connections.
• IAS-ISS directly controls 10 server machines running many distinct services.
• Windows NT4.0 and 2000 are the primary operating systems supported. Limited services are available for UNIX and Mac.
• Over a dozen basic software packages are supported.

SERVICES

The current scope of ISS services includes maintaining the division-wide computer hardware, network, and data management systems. For all IAS affiliated units we provide Computer Support Services(CSS), on a recharge basis, and information systems consulting. In addition, IAS specific training needs are addressed when possible.

Information management and Consulting

Services include:

• Needs assessments, information system consulting, software license information, and purchasing advise
• Management of multiple IAS databases including: IAS directory, IAS Calendar, ORIAS, and IAS Affiliates
• Coordination of the data collection and aggregated enrollment tracking for Title VI Centers
