Research

IAS is home to nearly 50 interdisciplinary, comparative, and area research centers, institutes, and programs. These units support both contemporary and historical research on every region of the world, facilitating the work of more than 800 affiliated faculty and 900 affiliated graduate students. IAS is host to seven National Resource Centers covering all the major areas of the world--among the largest number of such centers of any university in the United States.

Teaching

The IAS teaching program sponsors six bachelor of arts degrees, four minors, and three master''s degree programs, drawing on some 300 internationally oriented courses offered each semester. In collaboration with campus departments, IAS supports access to the study of some 80 languages and is home to the Rotary International Peace Fellows Program. IAS also provides resources and professional development for K-12 and community college teachers.

International Services

More than 800 Berkeley students annually study abroad in 35 countries through the UC Education Abroad Program administered by the Berkeley Programs for Study Abroad. Other students take advantage of reciprocal exchange agreements with nearly 130 universities in more than 40 countries. Through Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS), IAS provides assistance to the 4,500 international students and scholars who study at UC Berkeley annually. International House provides housing and international programming for the Berkeley campus.
