IAS is home to 34 interdisciplinary, comparative, and area research centers, institutes, and programs supporting contemporary and historical research on every region of the globe.

These IAS Research Units organize workshops, symposia, conferences, lecture series, host visiting scholars, and provide seed money for new projects. Many activities are now collaborative with other units on campus, and with counterparts throughout the world.
